Our Senior Adult Ministry focuses on individuals age 55 and up. They are a vital part of our church family!
How do I get connected at Emmanuel Baptist Church?
We suggest four entry points for senior adults who would like to become a little more involved in things at our church. You're invited to explore one (or more!) of the following ways you can connect with us:
You can connect at our Sunday
11:00 am Worship Service
It’s classic by design – you’ll enjoy your favorite hymns and worship choruses accompanied by piano and support orchestra. The choir enhances worship with anthems and other choral arrangements followed by solid, Bible preaching by Pastor Lou Fortier.
You can connect at our Sunday School
Age 50s:
8:15 am & 9:30 am - Single Adult A group in room 114B
Teacher Craig Bridgforth promises you a relevant Bible study and discussion. Craig does the Bible study twice on Sunday mornings to give you schedule options:
- you can attend the 8:15 am SA A Bible study then attend the 9:30 am "Common Ground" worship downstairs in the Fellowship Hall
- you can attend the 9:30 am SA A Bible study then attend the 11 am "Gathering" worship
Age 60s+:
9:30 am - Adult 8 in room 113B for singles/couples
AI, Rex, Nola, and others will be glad to help you make some new friends during Bible Study time.
Other classes at EBC are not age-specific and would be glad for you to visit; greeters at the doors can guide you.
You can connect at our 55+ Monthly Fellowship Events
Every month we get together to do something fun. Usually it's a meal in our church Fellowship Hall the third Saturday of the month. Sometimes we do a cookout at a park, and sometimes we take a trip somewhere. You're invited, and we love to make new friends!
You can connect at our Second Milers’ Choir
EBC’s Second Milers’ Choir meets Mondays at 9:30 am in our Fellowship Hall September through May and regularly sings at local nursing homes and retirement facilities. That ministry aspect is the center of what we’re all about. There’s no audition, and you don’t have to be a virtuoso! The emphasis is on ministry rather than a studio-perfect performance, and you’re invited!
The group takes a summer break May – September. The startup date will be posted here in September.

Our monthly 55+ Saturday lunch is March 20 at 11:30 am in EBC’s Fellowship Hall. The theme is Irish, and the menu is corned beef and cabbage. All you need to bring is a dessert to share. Sandy Peterson will present an interesting program on coin collecting.

is set for Saturday, January 16, 11:30 am – a pot luck lunch in our church’s Fellowship Hall. There’s a good chance everyone will have a birthday in 2010, so we’ll do a group celebration along with white elephant gifts (begin scouring your basement or closets for something really outrageous)! You’re invited!

Just so we can make some new friends among the EBC family, our senior adults will host a Thanksgiving lunch for the “pre-55” set at our church! Turkey, dressing, and gravy will be provided; the rest is pot luck.
Branson Getaway

Our bus will leave for Branson at 8:30 am Thursday, Oct. 15, returning Saturday evening, Oct. 17. We’re looking forward to a fun getaway of relaxing, making new friends, and taking in some new shows, specially two presentations of “Down From His Glory.” Thank you, Nita, for putting the details together!

55+ Annual Hot Dog Cookout

Our next monthly event is Saturday, August 15, 11:30 am in EBC’s Fellowship Hall. The theme is “game day” with all sorts of fun table games to help you connect with your friends – and hopefully to help you connect with some new friends, too! Lunch will be served, and it promises to be a fun – and yummy – event!
Pot luck Lunch

Saturday, July 18, 11:30 am in EBC’s Fellowship Hall, you’re invited to a pot luck lunch – bring whatever you’d like for a yummy lunch with your friends! The program will be on emergency preparedness, and we’ll get some tips on thinking ahead to deal with various unexpected occurrences. For instance, are your important papers in a safe place? If they’re at home, do you have copies at another location in case something happened to your house? Be with us July 18, and we promised you’ll learn some useful things!

Day Trip

Day Trip: Thursday, June 4, to KC’s WW I museum. We’ll carpool from the EBC parking lot at 11 am on June 4, have lunch at the museum café, enjoy the museum, then return to EBC mid-afternoon. Monthly Fellowship Meals

Our monthly fellowship meals are generally scheduled for the third Saturday of the month, 11:30 am, in EBC’s Fellowship Hall. We’re still working on a date for May’s event because it involves rescheduling the Senior Barn Players from “the great third Saturday snow of March.” Very soon we’ll have May’s date posted along with details of the meal and program.
